Chevy Traverse is a GM Lambda Platform built full size crossover SUV that originated from Spring Hill, Tennessee and had seven or eight seats. It is a successor to the Chevrolet Uplander and Trailblazer EXT and the 2009 model debuted at the 2008 Chicago Auto Show and arrived at every dealer in October 2008. As we all recall it came with the LLT engine, a 3.5 LDOHC V6 with VVT and direct injection and was paired with six speed automatic transmission that delivered power to front or all wheels. The Traverse delivered 281 HP with the torque at 266 lb-ft in the LS and LT models and the LTZ model, with dual exhaust, delivered 288 HP and the torque comes in at 270 lb-ft. But that is all seen and tried before, now we have some rumors that company is preparing a 2017 Chevrolet Traverse and we are very anxious to see what they have in store for us.
Engine of the 2017 Chevrolet Traverse is not going to change much which means that the all familiar 6L V6 unit, which is good enough for 288 HP and 270 lb-ft of torque was doing a good job on the previous model and it will be kept on this one with possibility of a slight update. What is new is that Chevy is, according to rumors, thinking about a scenario that makes a room for a new engine that is going to be added to a 2017 Traverse. That is still unconfirmed, but they are thinking about 4 cylinder turbocharged engine, with much better fuel economy compared to V6. The transmission is supposed to be 8 or 9 speed automatic that will deliver all of engines power to front wheels or all of them.
Interior of the 2017 Chevrolet Traverse is going to be heavily redesigned since it’s a new model. The new design language from Chevrolet will make possible that everything inside the car looks and feels new, mostly because it is, or is going to be according to speculations. When it comes to the visual look inside of the car, it is expected to come tailored especially for the Traverse, the cabin will be designed with three rows of seats, and it will definitely offer more space than the outgoing model, particularly to the third row passengers. This all is going to happen thanks to the new platform called C1XX which will slightly reshape the look and dimensions of the vehicle. Weight of the vehicle will be around 2.150 kg, but despite that Chevy is expecting good MPG ratios since its going to utilize more lightweight materials, with luggage capacity that will vary from 691 L to 3290 L depending on the number of seats used.
2017 Chevy Traverse changes in exterior
Exterior of the 2017 Traverse is also getting an overhaul, mainly thanks to new platform C1XX and the utilization of new and lighter materials such as HSS and aluminum, which are going to help with the design but also impact the MPG ratio. Traverse is, according to online buzz, coming with a completely new look, which is adapted by the company’s new design language, but more details are yet to be announced. What we have found out is that Traverse lost its signature grille with horizontal stripes which was present in all models of Chevrolet (Orlando, Captiva, Trailblazer, etc.), but this time the designers decided to do it without this brand detail.
As an addition to this it got restyled front bumper that now accommodates bigger air intake, redesigned fog lights, daytime running lights and headlights. It also got its fifth door restyled where, according to rumors, some space is moved from bumper to the fifth door. Now Traverse looks kinda cool and a little more up-to-date if we might say so, plus it got its suspension updated with new independent suspension all around which will make it more stable on the road and off it, plus giving extra comfort to the overall driving experience.
2017 Chevrolet Traverse price
Price of the 2017 Chevrolet Traverse will possibly stay pretty much the same as the previous model or go up a little, but since the previous model was priced from around $31.000 we won’t be much upset if the 2017 model starts pricing from $33.000 for the base trim and up to $44.000 for the top trim, because it is a new model. But nevertheless details are yet to be seen and heard, but we don’t think that Chevrolet will disappoint.
Release date of 2017 Chevy Traverse is expected to occur sometime after the release of the GMC Acadia, which probably means sometime in the first half of 2017. Now with that said we only need to stay patient and wait, like that is no problem.
