The Jeep Compass and the Jeep Patriot are two sport utility vehicles and the company merged them into a single vehicle and that is how they got the 2017 Jeep Compatriot. When the new Renegade was launched in California this february, Jeep’s director, Jim Morrison confirmed the company’s intention to merge this two model in one. The 2017 Jeep Compatriot (Compass and Patriot) will be the same size as the current Patriot and Compass. According to Morrison, the individual vehicles have reached the end of their life cycles and it is time for something a little bit new.
Exterior and interior design
It can be assumed that the merged vehicle will keep the functional and sleeky styling that is recognizable for this automotive giant, Jeep. Well, the interior will surely be spacious and it will probably have an easy way to use touchscreen infotainment system.
Although the name the Compatriot is quite cacky, it is not the comfirmed name of this new model by the automaker. This model should fill the gap by its size between the Renegade which is 4.23 meters long and the Cherokee which is 4.62 meters. The Compass is 4.46 meters long, while the current Patriot is 4.2 meters long.
Engine and specs of 2017 Jeep Compatriot
Engine wise, it is still unknown what will be under the hood of the new Jeep, but as always, there are some speculations. The new 2017 Jeep Compatriot might inherit one of the engines from the individual vehicles or get its own. The Patriot is currently powered by a choice of 4-cylinder 2.4-liter with 172 hp and 165 lb-ft and a base 2.0-liter engines with 158 hp and 141 pound-feet of torque. The Compass has under its hood a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine.
2017 Jeep Compatriot – Compass and Patriot Price and Release date
Jeep’s director, Jim Morrison said that this newly merged vehicle won’t be ready for its debut for quite some time. The Patriot and the Compass still have a part to play in the company’s lineup through the end of the year. There is speculation that this new SUV will be presented at some point in 2016. The 2017 Jeep Compatriot will probably be available for sale by the close of 2017.
Price wise, the merged vehicle will probably have a base price which is similar to the price of the current models, so it can be assumed that the price will be in range from $18,000 dollars to $27,000. The both individual models didn’t have some enviable sales in 2014. since each of them sold less than 150.000 units. It can be assumed that the company’s move to merge these two vehicles into one is actually a lack of interest in these two. So, at this point there can only be hope that this new Jeep’s model will be good enough to the customers and that it will satisfy all their needs in order to achieve better sale than the Compass and the Patriot.
