Japanese manufacturers are wizards when it comes to making something small, useful and utterly utilized to the maximum. Nissan Micra, a lovable super small car designed to maximize pleasure of driving in crowded big city streets with low fuel consumption, is embodiment of this concept. Micra or as its known in Latin America and in most of Asia Nissan March, is produced by the Japanese manufacturer Nissan since 1982. They have made four generations of this wonder car K10 (chassis name) 1982-1992, K11 1992-2003, K12 2002-2010 and K13 2010-present. Japanese designers and engineers keep surprising us from every aspect and we do not think that they will fail this time also, which means that they have probably something nice in store for us this time too and in form of a news that they are preparing the 2017 Nissan Micra . Lets see what they are offering this time.
2017 Nissan Micra Changes
New 2017 Nissan Micra is going to be a little bigger, sharper and overall better than previous model. On the outside it is featuring new “frown face” with sporty slick and sharp headlights and V-motion front grille which in a way is similar to the Sway concept, but that is not so bad because the Sway concept wowed us all, so it makes a good change up.
They have applied some of the same revolutionary design to the sides and the back of the Micra. They have taken the Alfa Romeo 147 design and put the rear door handles where the C-pillar meets the rear side glass, which is a very fine and stylish idea. On the back side they have heavily re-shaped the rear hatch and re-designed the tail lights. The 2017 Nissan Micra is based on a CMF B platform, the architecture that have to be tested as it is going to serve as a basis for the Nissan Juke.
Interior of the new Nissan Micra probably won’t be taken from the Sway concept entirely, which is to understand, but we can, according to speculations, expect some of the Sway solutions to find they way on the inside of the new Micra along with the bits and pieces from the Reanult. According to the online information Nissan project leaders informed us that they were aware of the problems previous model years had and that they have been listening to the feedback and are going to improve on that.
Since it’s the new gen of Micra and with the cooperation between Renault and Nissan we can expect heavily redesigned interior, with a lot of tech gizmos stuffed, top notch plastic and materials, as well as upholstery. This time passenger satisfaction will be priority if they want to compete in the B segment along with the Peugeot 208, Ford Fiesta, Suzuki Swift, VW Polo and others, which means paying more attention to details, sound isolation, overall simplicity and design as well as space inside.
2017 Micra Engine and specs
When it comes to the powerplant for this little wonder, according to the rumors and the cooperation of Nissan and Renault, we think that there is a possibility of three and four cylinder engines probably from Renault Clio and previous Micra models, if Renaults willing to share. Renault has already proven and reliable engines, and we believe that sharing will be very good for new 2017 Micra. Renault`s 1.5L dci engine is very good fuel saving with only 65 HP which are more than enough for a small, lightweight and nimble city car. Petrol engines might come, according to the online buzz, from previous model of Nissan Micra 2017, 1.2L3-cylinder engine HR12DE with 79 HP and 80 ft-lb of torque,1.5L HR15DE straight-4 engine with output of 108 HP and 109 ft-lb @ 4000 rpm and 1.6L HR16DE which produces from 107 to 116 HP, more than enough for a bit of sport spirit. All of these engines are very likely going to be paired with the typical five and six-speed manual units with a continuously variable transmission or CVT.
New Nissan Micra Release date and price
Release date for 2017 Nissan Micra is expected at the October 2016 on the Paris Motor Show which will possibly be the first public unveil and the sales are expected to start in the first half of 2017. Price is speculated a lot but what is certain is that it will cost much more than the previous model years because it changed the overall design, so we can expect, alleged, starting price from $18.000 for base and up for the top trim of this new model of Micra.
