The 2017 Range Rover Evoque Convertible was actually shown as a concept in 2012 at Geneva Auto Show, but it wait for 2015 to become a production version. The reason why company wait for so long, is because they were questioning out the market, ie real need for convertible SUV. After Nissan’s not so successful attempt with Murano Cross Cabriolet, the Evoque Convertible is actually the first luxury compact SUV convertible on the market.
The design of the 2017 Range Rover Evoque is very similar to concept version, namely it represents standard three-door Evoque without tin roof, which is replaced by an elegant soft “cap”, available only in black, and which match with each of the 13 available bodywork colors. The roof automatically rises (for 21 seconds) and goes down (for 18 seconds) to a speed of 50 km / h (30 mph), and offers the same acoustic properties as well as classic tin roof.
As expected, due to the “loss” of the roof, the Evoque Convertible has received numerous additional reinforcement, which increased the overall weight of the vehicle by 270 kilograms. The car has enough room for four people, and no matter to the position of the roof, trunk can occupied 250 liters. The engine range includes a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder turbo gasoline engine with 240 hp and 340 Nm of torque, mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission.This engine offers the acceleration to 100 km / h in 7.8 seconds and a maximum speed of 180 km / h (112 mph).The second option is diesel Ingenium four-cylinder 2.0-liter with 180 hp with an average fuel consumption of only 5.2 l / 100 km. Otherwise, according to information from Land Rover, all the convertible version of the Evoque will come standard with all-wheel drive system.
2017 Range Rover Evoque Convertible release date and price
Sales will begin in mid-next year as 2017 model and will be available to customers in more than 170 countries. Land Rover has also earlier confirmed that production of the 2017 Range Rover Evoque Convertible place in Halewood plant in the UK, where it has the right standard Evoque 5-door and three-door coupe variant. In the end, new Range Rover Evoque Convertible will coast $50,475 in the US market.
